Back to school!

August 13, 2018 school

Since graduating in the winter of 2013 with my Bachelors Degree, I’ve known deep down that I wasn’t done with school… in the five years since graduating I’ve seen a lot of change in my life, a career change that pivoted me away from my degree field, a marriage, I bought a house… life. That’s the word, life happened. Throughout all that change I’ve had this nagging feeling like I should go pursue higher education, and with each little “life” event along the way I have found a reason to postpone my return to school. Well, that ends here today!

About two months ago I began researching schools that would allow me to pursue my MBA completely online (fits my work travel schedule) that had an AACSB accreditation, and would accept a non-traditional student with a science background into their business program.

After countless recruiting calls and interviews with more than 10 schools I decided to apply to the Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi MBA program. The school has everything a traditional on campus program has, except for nightmare parking situations and loud campus parties… which face it, as an adult learner, I couldn’t handle anyway!

Tiffany (my wife) asked me last night how I was feeling about going to school, and to be honest, for the first time in years I feel at peace with the idea of returning. There have always been career and financial concerns about going back, and this time around, my employer is jumping in and is helping alleviate that stress. I’ve beeb accepted into their “Back to school” program where they are reimbursing and making allowances for me to focus on my graduate education. A huge relief!

So here we go! I start on the 27th of August and will be taking accelerated mini semester classes that allow me to knock out two classes per a traditional semester. I’m all registered and ready to jump in. Over the next couple weeks I need to finish painting and setting my study space up, I need to purchase a new calculator since I gave my trusty TI-84 to my sister last year when she started high school.

Accepted!
